Residents in a Buckinghamshire town have expressed concern about insufficient parking infrastructure in the area.
The local reaction to the proposed construction of a new warehouse on the outskirts of Marlow has shone a light on what some view as a lack of adequate parking facilities in the town.
Residents have called for an empty unit in Globe Business Park to become a car park rather than a new warehouse building to offset the incursion of employee vehicles onto neighbouring residential roads.
In an objection comment submitted to Buckinghamshire Council's planning portal, Clare McClelland, who lives in Bourne End, said she believed the site, the former home of Volvo Headquarters, "would be much more beneficial as a multi-storey car park".
She added: "This would not only benefit the businesses currently occupying Globe Park as a whole but would also ease the ever-increasing problem of parking within Marlow town centre, which in turn would benefit Marlow through increased footfall."

Colin McCulloch, who lives in Marlow, told the Free Press that while parking in the immediate vicinity of Globe Park wasn't at the forefront of his concerns, he was worried about the impact of a lack of infrastructure in the wider town.
He said: "Changes to the town should enhance the local environment and not detract from it. My principal concern is the motorised jungle of our high street. Councillors seem to care little about the congestion, pollution and parking problems."
Martin Watts, who also lives in Marlow, similarly suggested that a failure to create more parking space would precipitate a return to "pre-COVID parking mayhem in residential areas" before many employees began working remotely or on a flexible schedule, especially with the arrival of a new industrial space.
Buckinghamshire Council has been contacted for comment.
