There were several delays in High Wycombe in the late hours of New Year’s Day after a tree fell into a main road as a result of Storm Henk.
Near midnight on January 1 and into the early stages of January 2, the huge plant was spotted on its side between Amersham Road and De Havilland Drive, next to the Beech Tree pub in the town.
However, by 6.30am that day, the tree had been cleared and cars were able to make their way through the area.
This was a result of Storm Henk – the latest bit of adverse weather conditions to hit the UK following Storm Gerrit which happened over the Christmas period.
Sebastián Durango Escobar, who noticed the incident, said: “Just for people’s information, the bit of Amersham Hill by De Havilland Drive just after the Beech Tree pub, toward Hazlemere if you’re driving from Wycombe is blocked by a fallen tree.”
Storm Henk is the 15th storm to hit the UK since September, and many residents have been told to brace themselves when out and about due to heavy wind and rain.
At the time of writing, the Thames Valley along with its surrounding areas were given a Yellow Warning from the Met Office for excessive wet conditions.
Other parts of the country such as Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex in the East of England were issued with an Orange Warning as heavy wind is expected.
