A High Wycombe woman has pleaded with a community housing association to fix her home after claiming to have had ‘years’ of issues.
The residents, who asked to remain anonymous, currently lives with her husband and three children in the Red Kite property along Green Street.
She has resided in the house since 2012, but told the Free Press that problems first began a year later.
These issues have reportedly included heavy leaks, dampness, mould, no lighting and the removal of a carpet which hasn’t been replaced.
The resident accepts some efforts have been made to rectify problems, however the mum-of-three has said many if the ongoing issues cannot be resolved the family should be moved into a new property.
This comes after she revealed that her eldest daughter, who is aged 11, suffers with asthma which she claims has been worsened by the wet conditions within the house.
She said: “Doctors have told us to leave the house otherwise my daughter’s asthma will get worse.
“I get quite emotional when I see her suffer with asthma from how bad the house is.
“My other daughter has had a chest infection and they believe it’s down to the mould and damp in the house.
“There have been leaks in the hallway, living room, kitchen and garage and we have called many times to get help.
“People have come over and some work has been done, but they usually take photos and then we have to contact again about what is going on.
“I just want Red Kite to fix our house, and if not, then they can help us move into another house as it’s very bad at the moment.”
The mother also claimed that when their carpet was removed, several exposed nails were left in the floorboards.
A spokesperson for Red Kite said: "We are aware that there have been several issues at this home, many of which relate to leaks from the flat above, a leasehold property which has complicated our ability to fix them.
"We believe all historic repairs have now been completed and are just awaiting confirmation from our post-inspection, due to take place next week.
"We take all reports of damp and mould seriously and have robust systems in place to ensure that our tenants are kept safe."
The spokesperson added: "We were not made aware of the most recent issues until contacted by the Bucks Free Press.
"We are now working with the tenant and our contractor to understand the latest issues and to get them fixed as soon as possible."
