A luxury hotel in Buckinghamshire has been named as one of the best places for a getaway.
Cliveden House Hotel in Taplow won a Gold Seal in this year’s Good Hotel Awards, the sister awards to the Good Food Awards recognising some of the best independent hospitality businesses for “excellence within their field.”
The winners are judged based on room quality, service and value by combining customer feedback, votes and online reviews.
Cliveden’s general manager Francisco Macedo said: “We are delighted that Cliveden House has been recognised in the Good Hotel Guide Editor’s Choice 2024 awards, as one of the best hotels with gardens in the UK.
“We are extremely fortunate that our guests can delight in over 376 acres of National Trust maintained formal gardens and parkland whilst enjoying their time at Cliveden House.
"We are also delighted with the recent announcement from the AA that Cliveden has maintained its 5 Red Star Inspectors’ Choice Award, and 3 Rosette Award of Culinary Excellence, along with earning recognition from the AA Notable Wine List Award 2023/34.
"These accolades reflect the unwavering commitment and enthusiasm of the Cliveden House team in crafting extraordinary experiences for our valued guests.”
Cliveden House was built in 1666 by the 2nd Duke of Buckingham as a gift to his mistress. The modern-day Cliveden boasts a five-star hotel, a luxury spa and a restaurant and a bar plus glamorous wedding packages at the Grade I listed manor.
Before its time as a hotel, Cliveden's then-owners the 2nd Viscount Astor and Lady Astor used the manor for lavish parties teeming with famous guests between the world wars, including Charlie Chaplin, Gandhi, Winston Churchill, Joseph Kennedy, George Bernard Shaw, Amy Johnson and Franklin D.Roosevelt among others.
