A pub is seeking permission to change its opening hours on holidays, including on New Year’s and Christmas.
The owners of the Red Lion pub in Wooburn Green have applied for permission to stay open until 5am on New Year’s Day and other holidays.
Greene King Brewing applied for the variation to the premises licence, which controls entertainment and alcohol sales at pubs and restaurants.
If approved by Buckinghamshire Council, the pub could provide “late night refreshment” from 11pm on New Year’s Eve until 5am the following day.
On St George’s Day, St Patrick’s Day, Christmas Eve and statutory holidays the pub wants to permit late night refreshment from 11pm until midnight when the dates fall on Sunday to Thursday, and until 1am when when the fall on Friday and Saturday.
They also want to extend the time recorded music is permitted, which is currently permitted until 11pm.
Members of the public can make representations on the application in writing by the end of Wednesday, November 29 to licensing@buckinghamshire.gov.uk or to Buckinghamshire Council Licensing Section, The Gateway, Gatehouse Road, Aylesbury, HP19 8FF.
The licensing application comes only days before the Red Lion reopened on Thursday, November 16 under new franchisees as a Hive Pub concept.
A spokesperson for Greene King said the brewery was “delighted to reopen," but it did not comment on the licence variation application.
“The pub will be operated by our franchisees Bruno and Ana who look forward to welcoming pub-goers back to the new look Red Lion. The pub will feature new food menus, drinks and special offers and will provide regular entertainment including live music, quiz nights, karaoke and live sport,” they said.
