The owner of an independent hairdresser in Buckinghamshire has credited her “amazing team” for a victorious four-awards win at the Salon Awards 2023.
Duran’s Hair Studio, at 5 Bourbon Street in Aylesbury, was founded by Lisa Duran, 38, nearly seven years ago and has weathered a global pandemic and smaller-scale stressors including a forced relocation to emerge as a much-lauded asset to the town’s beauty scene.
The extent to which the business has grown from just an idea in Lisa’s mind to a fully-fledged and successful enterprise is evident in the studio’s awards history – taking home Best Salon Team in Buckinghamshire at the Salon Awards for four consecutive years.
At this year’s ceremony, held in London on Sunday, November 5, Duran’s Hair Studio took home the prizes for Best Salon Team, Best Stylist (Lauren Dawe) and Best New Talent (Ellie Fisher) alongside the coveted Best Salon in the county award.
Manager Carly Harrington said: “It was an absolutely fantastic evening, and we were very pleased to take home the awards.
“It was hard work, but it’s all paid off. We just have a great team and really loyal clients. So many people have been saying well done – it’s so nice to get that feedback.”

Lisa, who described herself as an Aylesbury local through and through, also praised the studio’s team for putting in the graft that underlies the impressive recognition.
“It can be hard to keep a team in this industry, especially with the way things are in the world at the moment. But without a strong team, you don’t have anything.
“One of our real strong points is how close everyone is. All of the girls are amazing, and they get on really well.
“Ellie, who won Best New Talent, is only 20 years old and she joined as an apprentice during lockdown. I know that she’s worked her socks off, so this is amazing recognition for her.”
The whole team made a weekend of it in London for the awards ceremony, which Lisa said had been a great way to boost morale and further encourage bonding outside of the salon.
“It was a bit different to normal work! It was a great way to celebrate, and I know that it was motivating for the girls too. We’ve had so many supportive messages from our clients – it’s really nice to see.”
