A new Christmas festival with late shopping and a mystery celebrity appearance has revealed its programme.
The Old Amersham Christmas Festival is set to bring artisan food, live music and Christmas entertainment on Friday, December 1 between 4pm and 8pm.
Visitors and residents can enjoy four new distinct ‘Christmas zones’ with music in the Memorial Gardens, Cooper’s artisan market selling treats and crafts on the High Street, a small vintage fairground on The Broadway and a food court taking over the Market Square.
The Amersham Band will play festive tunes while most stores will have exclusive special offers during the festival only.
Vendors at Cooper's Market will have mulled wine and sweat and savory treats to buy.
The Christmas tree light switch will be on at 6pm with an appearance by a mystery local celebrity.
Young guests have a chance to meet Father Christmas and his reindeers for a magical moment in the Market Square or hop on the traditional ferris wheel.

One of the businesses staying open late during the festival is Fabric Boutique.
Its co-owner Diana Halley said: “This fabulous Christmas Festival not only provides a platform for local artisans and businesses, but it’s also a gathering place for the community to join together to support and celebrate their town during the festive season.
“Local choir, The Firth Singers, will be spreading joy singing Christmas carols in the Memorial Gardens. A torch light procession with pupils from St Mary’s Primary School will parade from the church to the Christmas tree for more festive cheer and carol singing. The vision is to create a sparkling festive event for the whole community, and as with previous Christmas evenings there will be a donation to local charities.”
This year’s Old Amersham Christmas event comes after an initiative between the Old Amersham Revitalisation Group, the Amersham and Villages Community Board and the town council, managed by Cooper’s Markets with representatives from the local shops and restaurants.
Chair of Amersham and Villages Community Board Mark Dormer said: “With all the various activities, events and market stalls, this year’s Old Amersham Christmas Festival is set to be one of the ‘must be there’ events of the Christmas calendar.
“The Community Board was delighted to help with the funding toward this event which will attract people from far and wide to the Old Town and provide a welcome boost to local businesses and retailers.”
