A High Wycombe pub and restaurant have recently received a five-star hygiene rating just over a year after they were given the lowest score possible.
The Dolphin Eye, which is situated on Totteridge Lane within the town, was lumbered with one out of five in September 2022 following an inspection in August of that year.
However, just over 12 months later, the pub is now in the top tier when it comes to hygiene, with manager Raj Bhandari explaining to the Free Press that he wants customers ‘to enjoy’ their experience when visiting the eatery.

He said: “It’s good that we have got a better score and I’m very happy.
“When we got that low hygiene rating a year ago from the inspector, we knew that we had to improve.
“We cleaned everything and updated lots of different things around the restaurant to make sure it was all good.
“We wanted to make sure that all of the food we had was fresh as that was important.
“The customers coming in is of course the most important thing for us, so we want to make sure that we do everything correctly.”
Despite the low score being made public in the autumn of last year, many locals continued to visit the Dolphin whilst changes were being made.
This includes spending thousands of pounds on refurbishing its main eating area with new carpet, décor and tables.

The pub also has two chefs who specialise in creating authentic food native to both India and Nepal.
Raj continued: “Everything is clean and the food we have is fresh Nepalese and Indian food as we have chefs who are from both countries.
“The food they make is very authentic and it has been a very big hit with our customers, as they have told us they like the taste and the environment they are sitting in.
“And in terms of spiciness, we serve the food who you would like it.
“The customers are very important to us.”
