A cancer survivor is doing 100 press ups a day throughout November for Cancer Research UK.

Alan Cook, a civil servant and accounts manager based at RAF High Wycombe, has taken on the strenuous task with the aim of raising crucial funds for life-saving cancer research.

"I took up the 100 Press-Ups a Day November Challenge initially as I thought it's something I can manage," Cook explained.

He admitted he is no 'spring chicken' and will need to break up the demanding exercise into smaller, more achievable chunks.

Cook's motivation to fight cancer comes from his personal experience.

He laments that most people, including himself, have known someone who has suffered from, is undergoing treatment for or, regrettably, passed away due to some form of cancer.

However, he remains hopeful, noting: " I know a number of people who have responded excellently to treatment, thanks to years of cancer research".

Cook is eager to contribute to this most worthwhile cause and hold out hope for a future cure.

He urges the public to donate what they can, insisting that any donation would be "greatly valued and appreciated".

Cook believes that every penny donated helps make "all forms of the disease eminently more treatable and survivable – if detected in good time".

For those wanting to support Cook's commendable challenge and Cancer Research UK, donations can be made to Alan’s page at https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/alans-giving-page-569 which will be active for 120 days from November 1.

Donations to this pulsating press-up challenge are sure to make a much-needed difference.
