A MUM has taken inspiration from her daughter to put on a spectacular Halloween display whilst raising money for a very worthy cause.
Rachel Grace's daughter has been subject to hate due to dressing differently as a goth.
The family who live in Charsley Close, Little Chalfont want to share the message of stamping out hate, prejudice and intolerance by helping raise money for the charity, Sophie Lancaster Foundation.
The charity is close to their hearts after Sophie from Lancashire was murdered for being different.
She was attacked by a gang of five boys in a park in Bacup on August 11, 2007 and died on August 24. She was only 20 years old.
As such, Rachel is hoping to raise money for the charity through her Halloween display, which will hopefully spread some joy and get a few screams on the day.
She said: "It’s actually people who come year after year to see what we do is why we decided to put a charity pot out as many people tried to give us donations but we always declined them so this year we thought if people are always asking why not give them the option should they wish to donate.
"We chose these charities as the Sophie Lancaster Foundation is a charity that’s close to our hearts.
"As a family having a daughter who’s classed as “alternative” (hate that saying as she’s just our daughter and it’s just clothes) what happened to this poor poor girl [Sarah] just because of her appearance has always horrified us and we would like to try and contribute however small to support their goal to stamp out prejudice, hatred and intolerance everywhere."
The Rennie Grove Peace Hospice will also get a share of the donations as the charity supported Rachel's father in "his last few days of life so he could stay at home".
Rachel added: "Aas a family [we[ will never forget this outstanding local charity."
"My brother Ali has completed ridiculous challenges including the London Marathon as their mascot for this charity over the years and my mum volunteers for them so at Halloween I'm trying to do my little bit."
The big reveal of the Halloween display takes place on Tuesday, October 31.
