HALLOWEEN ghost tours in Buckinghamshire are not for the faint of heart.

October is the perfect time to get cosy with warm jumpers and candles, but it’s also the season to explore the ghoulish places.

Ghost enthusiasts have reported paranormal activity at many historical landmarks in Buckinghamshire.

Here are spooky ghost tours to enjoy this Halloween in Buckinghamshire and nearby.

Hellfire caves

Expect the famous caves in West Wycombe to be packed with other ghost hunters during the Halloween.

The caves’ history dates back to 1748 when they were excavated on the request of the eccentric Lord Dashwood, who used the caves for debauchery and gambling with his Hellfire Club members.

The ghost of Suki, a young woman whose heart was broken by a charlatan suitor, is said to haunt the caves to this day.

The caves are open on weekends only from 11am until 5.30pm.

Maidenhead Thicket

For those willing to brave the temperamental October weather, a ghost tour outdoors could be on the cards near Buckinghamshire.

A stretch of Bath Road running through the Maidenhead Thicket was a dangerous place for travellers during the 17th and 18th centuries for the number of highwaymen.

Thanks to the vegetation, the outlaws were able to spring on unwary travellers and rob them before disappearing into the darkness again.

One of them was highwayman Captain James Hind, who is known for his failed robbery of Oliver Cromwell and his bodyguards.

The Thicket can be accessed by heading to Pinkneys Green on Pinkneys Drive in Maidenhead.
