A PUPPY has been left ‘scared’ after a French bulldog lunged at the young pooch.
Dog owner Diana Sierra, 30, was forced to take her 10-week-old puppy Kobe to the vets after an encounter with a French bulldog.
The scary incident happened near Lidl on London Road in High Wycombe on Sunday October 1 when Diana was taking the happy Rottweiler pup for a stroll and to visit Starbucks during his socialisation training.
She said: “He doesn’t necessarily approach dogs unless they do. The Frenchie got really close really quickly. I saw the panic on the owner’s face, it happened so quickly.
“The dog lunged at him and went for his face. I pushed him away with my leg and picked up Kobe. He was howling and he had blood on his face, he was screaming. A few people tried to approach the man and he just walked off really quickly with the dog.”
Kobe was left with wounds to his nose.
Other people in Starbucks who witnessed the incident told her the same dog has scared their bigger dogs as well, Diana alleged.
Usually, the upbeat pup loves attention and people “fussing over him” during walks.
However, following the encounter Kobe was “very nervous” and cowered behind Diana’s legs, which wasn’t normal for him, she said.
She took Kobe to the vets, which cost her £110.
“He’s okay. But they are more worried about the psychological impact on him,” she said.
Diana, who also has cats, was worried what could have happened if Kobe was any smaller.
“Normally I go there with my cousin’s chihuahua and I immediately thought if it had bitten her. I’ve got nephews and nieces also. The Frenchie was being passed by kids. What if it would have been one of them? It’s scary to think about. Kids should know to always ask, but they are not always that intuitive.”
To make Kobe used to animals of all sizes, he often plays with the chihuahua and other small animals and he also has a dog trainer.
“My concern is that if he knows that the dog has those behaviours do not take him to a place that is full of people, families and other dogs. At least put a muzzle on it,” she added.
Diana said she was going to report the incident to the police.
