A public consultation is underway for Rosefield Solar Farm, an eco-friendly project between Buckingham and Aylesbury.
Jointly owned by EDF Renewables UK and PS Renewables, the farm aims to contribute to the UK's future energy mix significantly.
Matthew Boulton, EDF Renewables UK's Director of Solar, Storage and Private Wire indicates that Rosefield would supply enough clean energy for over 57,000 homes yearly. That’s nearly a quarter of all homes in Buckinghamshire.
It is estimated this would result in a spacious 125,000-tonne annual cut in carbon dioxide emissions.
Matthew Boulton said: "We are currently at the earliest stages of the development of Rosefield Solar Farm, with local views vital to helping us develop our plans. We encourage everyone to get in touch, meet with us and share their views during the consultation.
“Climate change is a challenge we must all play our part in addressing – from the small changes in our everyday lives to the transformational changes we need to make across our whole economy. Solar is an important part of the way we can meet this challenge – it is reliable and can be built quickly compared to other types of renewable technologies.
"This is particularly important as the UK focuses on boosting its domestic supply of clean energy.”
The entire estate spans 5,000 acres, but the size of the solar farm will be determined at a later stage following the consultation.
As part of the consultation process, feedback on these benefits, as well as the early layout proposals, is being sought.
Opportunities for face-to-face feedback are set on October 4 at Calvert Green Village Hall between 2.30pm-6.30pm, on October 6 at Quainton Memorial Hall between 2pm-6pm, on October 7 at East and Botolph Claydon Village Hall, from 10am-2pm, and on October 9 at Steeple Claydon Village Hall, between 10am-2pm.
More chances for public interaction are scheduled on November 1 at Calvert Green Village Hall and Brickworx Bar from 5pm-8pm.
Consultation materials are also available at several locations, including Aylesbury Library, Buckinghamshire Council Walton Street Offices, and Calvert Green Village Hall.
All responses must be received by the consultation deadline of 11:59pm on Friday, November 10, 2023.
