A bystander who saw a dramatic car chase and crash unfold in a Bucks town said they helped police to catch a suspect whose injuries were 'horrendous'.
A High Wycombe resident who wishes to remain anonymous said they were one of only a handful of people who saw a dramatic police car chase and crash unfold on Desborough Road in Wycombe at around 2pm on Friday, September 22.
The resident said they were standing with three others near the corner of Desborough Road when a white Mercedes drove down from West End Road and over the pavement at a high speed, with one person hanging out of the driver's seat.
"We watched as the driver got out of the car while it was still moving, and then his arm got caught in a bollard. He pulled himself free and ran in my direction - he was about to go right past me so I put my foot out and tripped him up.
"My first thought was that I felt bad for him because his arm was pretty mangled up - it was horrendous - but I could see that police cars had arrived and they were chasing after him."
The injured man was then apprehended, but the eyewitness said two others, who had remained in the car as it continued to drive across the pavement and into a wall, took advantage of the diverted attention and "bolted" from the vehicle.

Upon further communication with officers, the resident said they were told a car chase had previously been underway along West Wycombe Road after the car was reported as stolen.
"We rarely go into town and we had just been coming back from lunch, but then we had to stick around and give our statements to the police. It was very surreal.
"We had just been about to go around that corner so we actually could have been hit and there was a bus that was almost hit as well. It just happened so fast, in around 20 seconds."
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police confirmed that officers had attempted to stop a vehicle that was suspected to be stolen at around 2:15pm on Friday.
They said the occupants of the vehicle fled on foot from Desborough Road and, "during the attempt to evade officers", a man sustained a broken arm and was taken to hospital for treatment.
A spokesperson for the South Central Ambulance Service confirmed that a 24-year-old male with a serious arm injury was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford on Friday as a result of the incident.
Police confirmed today (September 25) that only one arrest had been made and that the individual in question had been released on police bail until December 5.
