A resident has spoken about a ‘horrific’ crash outside his home, which destroyed two cars.

Jeremy Fletcher, 48, told how he stumbled upon a serious car crash on West Hyde Lane in Chalfont St Peter.

The dad was returning from a food shop in the early afternoon on Monday September 18 when he heard screaming right outside his driveway.

Jeremy said: “The driver of the car was screaming for help and for an ambulance for his heavily pregnant partner.

“The guys in the van were just in shock. I called 999 immediately.”

The emergency services arrived and the passengers were pulled from the wrecked vehicles.

“Both vehicles were written off and the lane closed for a number of hours.

“So lucky nobody died,” he said.

Jeremy, who has lived in the area since 2021, said he “wouldn’t be lying if I said there were at least two near misses every day.”

“You hear the screeching of tyres and blowing of horns,” he claimed.

He called for urgent speed restriction measures, saying it was “fortunate that there was not a fatality this week.”

However, the near misses and the seriousness of the crash “clearly point to the requirement for an intervention plan,” he added.

Thames Valley Police declined to comment because the force no longer answers enquiries about road traffic collisions unless it’s been published by their press office or posted on social media to inform the public about collisions which are causing disruption to traffic.
