UK Power Networks said: “We're sorry for any disruption this may have caused you. As this was an unexpected power cut, we didn't know it was going to happen so we were unable to give you advanced notice.”
At first, the power was estimated to be back on by 1pm, but now the provider has said the exact time is "to be confirmed."
The outage in the Little Hampden, Swan Bottom and Lee Common areas was caused by a “high voltage overhead electricity line fault,” the provider said.
Power was restored at about 10.20pm, UK Power Networks alert showed.
