A fly-tipper was caught red-handed after he dumped a mattress on a residential road in Buckinghamshire.
Ravinder Singh, of Mellow East in Hayes, pleaded guilty to illegal dumping at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court on August 30.
The court heard how a frustrated resident saw an old double mattress appear outside his home on Old Mill Lane in Denham.
After he checked his home CCTV, he saw the mattress was dumped on the far side of a van that pulled onto the pavement.
Council officers found out that Mr Singh was the driver of the offending van before he was interviewed under caution at Hayes Police Station. He denied the dumping but he couldn’t explain how the mattress got on the roadside in Bucks.

He was fined £1,057, ordered to pay £874.37 towards the prosecution costs and a victim surcharge of £473, making the total to pay £2,404.37.
Buckinghamshire Council’s cabinet member for climate change and environment Gareth Williams said: “We will use any tool available to us to bring offenders to justice as there is simply no excuse for fly-tipping. Thank you to the resident who gave us access to their CCTV footage which showed the incident taking place. This enabled our enforcement officers to track down the culprit and ensure they faced up to their crime.”
