The M40 stretch of Buckinghamshire has been brought to a complete standstill with the emergency services currently at the scene.
Traffic has stopped in both directions between junctions four and three ‘due to a collision’, and no time frame has been given on when the closed lanes will reopen.

Two fire engines have been spotted using the hard shoulder to get to the scene, whilst one motorist has told the Free Press that he hasn’t moved for roughly half an hour.
They said: “I don’t know what’s happened but it sounds terrible.

“The fire engines went past and we haven’t moved for ages.”
Another driver has also spotted people leaving their cars to walk over to the scene to see the wreckage first-hand.
