Hygiene inspectors have given Al Khair Supermarket the second lowest rating possible after an unannounced inspection on July 25, 2023.
This local retailer located at 38 Chairborough Road, High Wycombe, was given an overall hygiene rating of 1, highlighting severe areas requiring major improvements.
The hygienic handling of food, potentially encompassing preparation, cooking, reheating, cooling, and storage, was found to be in need of some improvement.
Furthermore, the inspector's assessment of the outlet's adherence to safety standards revealed a significant lack of confidence, with checks in place to ensure that the food sold or served is safe to eat falling considerably short of the mark, likewise, staff knowledge about food safety also needed improvement.
The cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building, potentially including factors such as layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control, were deemed generally satisfactory.
Contextually, within the local area, no establishments have received a rating of 0, with only 0.7 per cent scoring the same as Al Khair Supermarket.
The majority of establishments, 68.8 per cent, have been given the highest rating of five, as per the standard food hygiene ratings scale used in the United Kingdom, ranging from 0 (in need of urgent improvement) to 5 (very good).
