A pensioner has slammed the local council for 'inefficiency' amid concern from officials about 'disruptive' congestion in a Bucks town.
Pippa Harrison, 76, a pensioner who lives in Spring Gardens, Marlow, said there were traffic control measures and works equipment on the B482 road towards Lane End for the entirety of last week despite no work taking place to her knowledge.
She added that the recent installation of three-way traffic lights on Marlow High Street was exacerbating what she viewed as a problem with "inefficiency" at Buckinghamshire Council.
"Nothing is happening. Someone got annoyed and moved the bollards from the B482 road, but the traffic lights are still working.
"There's nobody being held accountable for what's going on. These services get permission to put traffic measures up, the council give them permission to do it for however many days, the contractors put them in place, and then no work happens.
"The council should be monitoring the contractors they use and giving out penalties because it seems like the companies are closing roads for as long as they can, even if the work only takes a very short period. It's just inefficient."

Steven Broadbent, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “The recent roadworks on the B482 are not being carried out by the council but are emergency works being carried out by SSE Energy Services with diversions required via the B482.
"Due to their very nature, emergency works are often carried out at short notice. As a council, we aim to work with utility companies to minimise the impact on motorists and residents but regrettably, some level of disruption is often unavoidable. These current SSE works are due to be completed by Friday this week."
Marlow Town Council released a statement today (September 13) expressing "deep concern" about the traffic congestion in the town, parts of which are designated as Air Quality Management Areas, and which a spokesperson said is continuing to cause "huge disruption and upset" for residents.
They added: "We are lobbying Buckinghamshire Council at officer and member level, in the strongest terms possible, requesting that something is done immediately to ease the situation."
