A MAN in his 40s currently remains in hospital with serious injuries after a stabbing at YMCA in High Wycombe. 

A 40-year-old man has been stabbed after 'a disagreement' with another man at the YMCA in High Wycombe.

Thames Valley Police were called to Crest Road at around 10.50pm following reports of a man in his 40s being stabbed after a disagreement with another man at the YMCA.

The man remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, said  'around 30 armed police officers responded' to the incident and were at the scene until 1am on Wednesday morning (September 13).

A "critical response team unit turned up to treat the man in his 40s on the side of the pavement," he added.

Police have arrested a 35-year-old from Buckinghamshire on suspicion of GBH wounding with intent. He remains in custody at this time.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police, said: “Officers were called to the YMCA in Crest Road, High Wycombe at around 10.50pm last night to reports that a man in his forties had been stabbed, following a disagreement with another man.

"The man remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

"Officers have made an arrest of a 35-year-old from Buckinghamshire, on suspicion of GBH wounding with intent. He remains in custody at this time.

"Members of the public will see an increased police presence while we continue to investigate."

A section of the pathway outside the YMCA has been cordoned off with a police officer stationed next to it. 

A flat has also been cordoned off with blue and white police tape whilst forensics investigate inside.

A YMCA resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, told the Free Press: "Someone was stabbed last night. He was stabbed in the stomach and I didn't see the assault happen but I heard a scream. 

"By the time myself and someone ran around, somebody was holding his hand.

"The critical response team turned up and treated him on the side of the pavement. There must have been 30 armed police responding." 

This is the second police cordon in High Wycombe in a week, with Bowden Lane currently closed off whilst murder investigations take place.

The Bowden Lane police cordon relates to the death of 44-year-old Karl Stanislaus, who was found unresponsive on the road in the late hours of September 12.

23-year-old Tyrell James, of Hawksmoor Close has been charged with murder. Officers remain at the scene.
