THAMES Water has shut off one lane on the A404 to manage "escaped sewage" causing heavy traffic delays AGAIN this year.
A lane closure has been in place on the A404 northbound dual carriageway since Monday, September 11, causing long traffic queues and tailbacks as drivers head towards High Wycombe.
Thames Water tankers have to use the lane to "manage the flow" of sewage which is situated near Fieldhouse Lane Sewage Pumping Station in Marlow.
They said: "We are currently able to contain the escaped sewage within the car park area with bunding and no impact to local watercourses has been detected.
" The leaking rising main is situated near Fieldhouse Lane Sewage Pumping Station in Marlow, specifically within the Travelodge car park area. Currently, the escaped sewage is being contained within the car park area using bunding, and there has been no detected impact on local watercourses.
"Tankers will be required on-site to manage the sewage flow while repairs are being undertaken."
The waterboard also said there could be a railway line closure due to the incident's proximity.
Adding: "Efforts are being made to minimize disruption to commuters, and coordination is in progress with Network Rail.
