A therapy dog has cheered up the residents in a care home in Buckinghamshire.
Dolly the Labradoodle has been a regular visitor at Portobello Place care home in Chesham since November last year.
Dolly’s visits aim to enhance the mental health of the residents as the calming presence of therapy dogs has been scientifically proven to reduce stress and anxiety.
The care home’s general manager Catherine Emekwuo said: “Dolly’s regular visits have become a heartwarming tradition, and the impact on our residents is immeasurable. Her visits are not just about a wagging tail and a furry friend, her calming presence has reduced stress and anxiety while bringing smiles and easing loneliness.

“Dolly’s owner deserves special recognition for her dedication. Not only for bringing Dolly, but bringing a supply of treats for the residents to play with her.”
Residents gathered over snacks and drinks in the care home bistro to chat and share heartwarming memories of their own dear pets.
