A TV star who is chancellor of a Bucks university beat out Holly Willoughby’s This Morning for a top prize at the National Television Awards.
Jay Blades MBE, the host of BBC’s The Repair Shop who studied at Buckinghamshire New University in High Wycombe and has since become the institution’s first-ever Chancellor, took home a top prize on behalf of his show at the National Television Awards (NTA) on Tuesday, September 5.
The Repair Shop made history on Tuesday night when it beat out This Morning to take home the NTA for Best Daytime Show.

Thought to have been marred by the controversy surrounding former host Philip Schofield earlier this year, the ITV programme had previously taken home the title every year since 1998.
Mr Blades, who has also been the recipient of other awards for his BBC presenting gigs has become a beloved part of the UK’s television roster, with The Repair Shop documenting the Wolverhampton-local’s love of furniture up-cycling.
