A new play area is being installed at The Rye in High Wycombe early next year.
Buckinghamshire Council aims to have the play area, named 'Ropes on the Rye', completed in time for spring, weather permitting.
The design of the new play area was informed by consultation with local stakeholders, including the 2nd High Wycombe Brownies.
The council has ensured that the new play area will be inclusive and feature a variety of equipment to cater to different age ranges and abilities.
Some of the highlights of the new play area include a large bespoke 'Tree Castle' multi-play unit, a mini space net, a track ride tower, a giant spinning disc, a 'Cocowave' swing, and an outdoor 'Calisthenics' fitness unit.
What sets this play area apart is that several of the equipment items are crafted from recycled materials, contributing to a more sustainable and eco-friendly environment.
The 'Tree Castle' multi-play unit will provide an inclusive access ramp and wide slide, allowing children of all abilities to enjoy playing at an elevated height.
This reflects the council's commitment to making the play area safer, more inclusive, and accessible for all.
Clive Harriss, Buckinghamshire Council's Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, said: “I’m very proud of how our Parks Team is ensuring that these facilities are being made safer and more inclusive, whilst being made more accessible for all to enjoy.
“Keeping our parks and green spaces in good condition and the play areas and equipment updated and replaced is a great compliment to the council due to prudent budgeting. I thank the hard-working staff that make this happen.
"It’s due to their commitment and enthusiasm that we have once again won six Green Flag Awards across the county, including The Rye in High Wycombe.”
Overall, the new play area at The Rye promises to be an exciting and inclusive addition to the High Wycombe community, providing a safe and enjoyable space for children of all ages and abilities to play and have fun.
