Reader's discretion as some might find the footage upsetting and disturbing
A disturbing video of a horse collapsing in Buckinghamshire has gone viral.
The footage, which was first shared on social media on the evening of June 21 this year, shows the animal running attached to a cart as part of a pony and trap race in Gerrards Cross.
The nearly two-minute clip shows the creature falling to the ground in evident distress due to alleged exhaustion, whilst its rider is aggressively pulling the horse’s bridle and reins.
During the clip, another racer is also seen watching over before leaving the scene with his horse.

The anonymous social media user who shared the clip said: “How much more do we accept?
How much more do we accept???…. This poor horse fell to the ground in front of me with total exhaustion while his owner continued to whip him to get up!!! How do we stop this cruelty on our doorstep. This was by the traveller site by the crown plaza 😭😭😭 Update for everyone asking: I was filming them racing to show the police as they were racing on oncoming traffic and as soon as the horse went down, I was SO cross and filmed to show the RSCPA, I then phoned the police and was guiding them to the scene and telling them what was happening. A guy behind me got out and starting helping to lift the horse. It was all very quick but evidence is key so we can prosecute this man otherwise he will just do it over and over again. Also, this guy was shouting and going mad and whipping this horse to get up and throwing water in it's face, I really don't think I could have helped, I needed the police to be there and they literally arrived within 5 min. To answer other questions, Police have been notified and have this footage as well as the RSCPA and the World Horse Welfare. I have also contacted my local MP about this so lets hope something happens. I have posted anonymously to protect my family as I live locally and I know how dangerous this bunch is.
