A NEW bakery coming to Hazlemere has revealed its opening date and job opportunities.

Fast-growing chain Wenzel’s The Bakers is moving into the former McColls branch on Holmer Green Road.

Large signs, with orange branding, now show that the store will open on Tuesday, September 12.

The business is recruiting a shop manager, assistant manager, supervisor and sales assistants, with QR codes on the windows for potential employees to scan to apply.

Established in 1975, Wenzel’s now has more than 100 stores. The Hazlemere branch will join High Wycombe, Chesham, Bourne End, Aylesbury, Denham, Gerrards Cross, Little Chalfont, New Denham Oxford Road and Wycombe London Road in the chains Bucks collection.

The London-born family business offers sweet and savoury baked goods from fondant fancies and unicorn cakes to sausage rolls and sandwiches.

The old McColls unit has been left empty since November 2022 after Morrisons revealed proposals to shut more than 132 loss-making McColl’s stores – a convenience chain it bought earlier in the year.

Alan Cecil said: "It's good to see someone take over an empty shop on the parade. Competition is generally good

"It seems to be positively welcomed by local residents and may provide jobs for those needing work."
