A popular pub in a Bucks town has closed its doors for a month as it prepares to undergo a pricey - and mysterious - refurbishment.
The Marlow Donkey pub on Station Road in Marlow, which is owned by the Greene King brewing company, has temporarily closed its doors.
The management team of the pub said the temporary closure, which officially came into effect today, Tuesday, August 29, would remain in place until the autumn when a "complete refresh" of the venue had been completed.
Although details of the refurbishment, which will reportedly be funded by a six-figure investment sum, are not forthcoming, a team member revealed that The Marlow Donkey was undergoing major works "both inside and out".

A provisional re-opening date for the pub, which was praised by recent TripAdvisor reviewers for its "lovely outside garden" and "fantastic service all round" was suggested to be at the end of September.
The Marlow Donkey is one of over 1600 Greene King pubs across the UK, serving the chain's trademark ales alongside a wide-ranging menu and regular events including quiz nights and dinner shows.
