A student from Bucks, who achieved top marks in an impressive five A-Level subjects, is the first person from his school to attend Oxford University.

Raphael Darley, a student at The Beaconsfield School, achieved top A* and A grades across five A-Level subjects, confirming his place at the prestigious Oxford University.

Although Raphael was not able to collect his results in person, due to being abroad in Canada, headteacher of The Beaconsfield School Caroline Legg said she "couldn't be prouder" of the result.

Despite overall grades across the UK being down from last year, following the reinstation of pre-pandemic marking standards, success rates have been high across schools in Buckinghamshire.

A quarter of the students at The Beaconsfield School achieved A*, A and B grades and the Btec Level 3 vocational outcomes were reported to be of an "exceptional" standard.

Ms Legg said: "I couldn't be prouder of the students, they started Sixth Form coming out of the pandemic and their approach to their studies and ambition to achieve their goals has been impressive. They really deserve their success."
