It’s the first Friday of the month so let us have a look at five of the best fish and chip shops in Buckinghamshire.
Hi-Tide Fish and Chips – Aylesbury
Run by former Brentford right-back Alan Hawley along with his family, the Aylesbury-based chippy has been situated on Mandeville Road since 1997 and has been a regular spot for thousands of people.
One loyal customer described the establishment as ‘one of the best fish and chip shops in the town and it’s not just because of the food – it’s because everyone there makes you welcome and they are such a friendly bunch.’
The award-winning chip shop is also known for its Tik Tok videos, with its social media presence accumulating tens of millions of views.
Tummy Fillers – High Wycombe
Regarded as one of the best establishments in the town, the London Road business is known to locals and has a high reputation.
One customer said: “Best fish and chips in Wycombe.
“Spotlessly clean, really good quality food and good value.
Another added: “Best chips in High Wycombe!
“We have lived here 15 years and they are the best chips on the planet!
“Being vegetarian this is great for us - very friendly staff and service.”
Penguin Fish Bar – Marlow
In January 2020, PFB told the Free Press how they were struggling to make ends meet due to a lack of customers.
Fast forward to now, the West Street business is doing much better and is enjoying a new lease of life following their approval to serve alcohol on the premises.
One customer said: “Top notch food cooked to order, very generous portions and at a reasonable cost. Visited here twice during our trip up the Thames as it was that good.
“The first time they said they didn't do 'scraps' but the second time they went the extra mile.
“I won't hesitate to visit again next time we're in the area.
“Highly recommended.”
New Garden Fish Bar – High Wycombe
Another High Wycombe business, the Desborough Road venue has a loyal following and is known for its brilliant service.
One customer described them as ‘the best fish and chip shop in town’, whilst another said: “Have been coming here for over 20 years and the food tastes the best.
‘It’s not greasy, they have very generous portions and unbeatably crispy batter.’
Princes Fish & Chips – Princes Risborough
Regarded as one of the best in the whole Buckinghamshire, Princes Fish and Chips are too known for their friendly service.
This customer said: “Deliciously light and crispy batter on the cod, not oily at all and good size.
“The scampi was tasty with chunky pieces.
“Large chips were plenty for the two of us and not soggy.”
