FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze which tore through a barn in Whelpley Hill, Buckinghamshire.

Crew from seven fire stations were called to Village Road just before 6.30pm to a barn fire.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue service received multiple calls to the emergency service control room after black smoke was seen.

A spokesman said: "A barn, measuring around 30 metres by 10 metres was well alight when crews arrived. The barn contained hay, straw, a horsebox and a further vehicle.

"They also worked with farmers and machinery on site to remove unaffected objects.

All contents were 100 per cent destroyed by the fire."

The firefighters used two main jets, one hose reel, two dams and a bowser to stop the fire.

Crews are expected to remain on the scene for some time, turning over and damping down.
