The plans for a new skate and activity park in a Buckinghamshire village have been unveiled.
The plans for a new skatepark in Chalfont St Peter have taken next steps after the developer Maverick Skateparks submitted a planning application to Buckinghamshire Council to replace the "out-dated" existing skatepark.
The application comes after a campaign by the resident-led Chalfonts Activity Park Project group who have been pushing for better wheeled sports provision for people of all ages.
The proposal includes the removal of old skatepark equipment and shelters to build the new skatepark and paths behind the Chalfont St Peter Community Centre.
Maverick Skateparks said: “The skatepark will serve the needs of existing wheeled sports enthusiasts within the local community and the wider communities of South Buckinghamshire.

“The Chalfonts currently has a strong wheeled sports scene, whose needs are under provided for with the small, existing out-dated facility.
“A dedicated and defined safe space for wheeled sports within Chalfont St Peter is vital to support the existing community and encourage active participation in skateboarding, scooter and BMX in future generations.”
Since the application was submitted this summer, it has received 45 letters in support, including from residents and the Parish Council.
A Chalfont St Peter parent Helen Birch said the area lacked “free-to-use sports facilities.”
“Skateboarding and BMX are fast growing sports and cater to a broad spectrum of the community. The skatepark can be used simultaneously by different age and ability groups. It will last for decades and be used by many local children and adults,” she said.
Resident Lewis Revell said he’s waited “for years to have a new skate park in the village.”
He said there was “nothing for over 12s to do, especially for means of getting exercise.”
Melissa Harris Cohen from Denham said it made sense to update the “very dated skate park.”
“This would be a very welcomed and much needed addition to the local area. At the moment I can’t think of anything for older children/teenagers in the village,” she added.
Chalfont St Peter resident Charles Allen fully supported the upgrade, saying it brings young people together in a socially way “as opposed to anti social.”
“Would recommend CCTV installation to accompany this revamp – more as a deterrent so the new skate park is not targeted for vandalism,” he added.
