It may still be a few months away but it's never too early for a first taste of the brand new Oktoberfest celebration confirmed for Bucks this year.

Buckinghamshire Council has given the green light to organisers for a celebration of all things German after granting licensing permission for an Oktoberfest event last month.

The decision means that Barbican Events will now be able to serve authentic German beer alongside bratwursts, currywursts and other traditional foods at their brand new event in Burnham Park this autumn.

The company have previously hosted Oktoberfest celebrations in Harpdenden Common, Hertfordshire in 2021 and 2022.

Event manager Andrew Dempsey said: "After hosting the successful Hertfordshire Oktoberfest in previous years, we are excited to bring the experience to Buckinghamshire this year.

"The event will be filled with lots of fun including a live Oompah band, German beer, axe throwing and fancy dress.

"We look forward to welcoming everyone to the event and we are pleased to have our alcohol license approved by the local authority."

During a sub-committee meeting on June 19, councillors asked the organisers about precautions in place to prevent noise and anti-social behaviour resulting from the Oktoberfest event.

A spokesperson for the company said noise assessments were being carried out to minimise the impact on nearby residents and that measures would be taken to regulate the alcohol consumption of attendees.

Barbican Events' first Oktoberfest celebration in Bucks will take place in Burnham Park from Friday, September 29 to Sunday, October 1.
