The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for thunder affecting Thames Valley over the weekend.

The forecaster warned of potential disruption to communities and travel across Buckinghamshire and Berkshire as it issued the yellow warning.

The thunderstorm warning will be in place on Saturday July 8 from 9am until midnight.

Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to pound down on parts of UK, including London and the South East.

What to expect during the yellow warning

Homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to building from floodwater, lighting strikes, hail or strong winds, the Met Office warned.

Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing danger to life.

Trains and bus services could be delayed in areas where flooding or lightning strikes occur.

As a result of rain and sudden flooding, driving conditions may be difficult and some roads could be closed.

Some communities might become cut off if roads flood.

Homes and businesses could be left without electricity if power is cut off and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost, the Met Office said.
