A 37-year-old paedophile has been convicted for the fifth time in six years after he breached his sexual harm prevention order.

Matthew Dawson, of Ramsthorn Grove, Milton Keynes, appeared at Aylesbury Crown Court on Wednesday, June 28 where the judge described him as ‘manipulative and cunning.’

Following his original sentence in March 2017 for making indecent images of children (mainly involving babies and toddlers), he was sentenced to 20 months behind bars.

He was also made to sign the sex offenders list and prohibited from using any device that accessed the internet.

A year later in March 2018 whilst still in prison, he was called back to court after more indecent images were discovered.

These crimes took place prior to his first conviction, with the judge giving Dawson a 12-month prison term suspended for two years.

He was released in December 2018 but re-offended in September 2019 for breaching his sexual harm prevention order for conviction two, by not claiming to the authorities that he had purchased a mobile phone.

The paedophile was then jailed in May 2020 as the phone he bought the previous year contained numerous images of children, along with disturbing chats with other online users.

It was revealed to the court that Dawson thought he had been talking to mothers through an internet chatroom, only to be having these depraved conversations with another man.

They spoke openly about sexually abusing children.

His latest release from prison occurred earlier this year, but Dawson again violated the rules of his order, by regularly accessing the computers at Milton Keynes Library.

He also bought a mobile phone only for him to throw it away after he realised he could not use the internet, but secretly kept the sim card.

He also used his parents’ laptop.

Dawson claimed he used the internet on his parent’s device to try and find a place to live along with a job, but it was revealed in court that he had been accessing old emails via the Cloud, which contained more indecent images of children.

He was also regularly watching ‘extreme pornography.’

The judge said: “For two years, you had been using your parents’ laptop.

“Not to find a place to live but to access old emails that had indecent images of children, along with watching pornography.

“You worked with officers until December 2022 – you made good progress with the MAPS for Change course* but you broke the rules in a deceptive way.

“You pose a serious risk for children going forward and you've shown manipulative and cunning behaviour.

“It’s concerning that you found new ways to get around these orders.

“It’s plain to me that there is no chance of rehabilitation.

“You have no respect for the order, and you are a high risk to children.

Dawson was sentenced to two years in prison but will be released on licence halfway through his sentence.

He was jobless prior to his recent conviction and was financially supported by his parents.
