Amersham in Bloom has celebrated a decade of success as an award-winning gardening town.
The passionate group’s latest victory was winning the RHS Britain in Bloom best town award last year alongside the RHS Thames & Chilterns in Bloom gold.
Although the triumphant community gardening project boasts RHS wins dating back to 2007, its main goal has been to improve Amersham long-term for residents and wildlife alike.
Now the Town Council has released a free book called ‘A decade in bloom’ to celebrate the achievements.
The Bloom lead Steve Catanach said in the 52 page commemorative book: “When I joined Amersham Town Council in 2010, Amersham in Bloom was relatively small and very much under the radar.
"Although the foundation had been set, I could see the greater potential for Bloom as a mechanism for driving environmental change in Amersham.”

Hundreds of volunteers, groups, pupils and businesses have helped to make the town blossom over the years.
Their efforts have included the planting of 8,500 trees since 2012, street trees on Sycamore Road and Hill Avenue, completion of different displays in the Memorial Gardens, a book written by local children called Gren and Blue, huge increase in wildflower and pollinator plants and refurbished planters and benches across Amersham among others.
“From humble beginnings to RHS Britain in Bloom UK Overall Winner in 2022, I couldn’t be prouder of what we, as a community, have achieved,” Steve added.
