The closure of the last village bank has been met with ‘shock’ from residents.
Barclays announced it was axing its branch on Chalfont St Peter High Street from August 31.
After the closure, there will be no bank ATMs in the heart of the village.
The nearest Barclays branches will be in Uxbridge and Ruislip in Greater London, an area earmarked for the planned expansion of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (Ulez) in August.
Chalfont resident Anne Marie Vladar said she was “amazed it’s being closed” as the branch was often busy with queues.

With the “Ulez charge looming,” she was concerned for people whose cars were not compliant with the planned emission standards.
David Woodnutt commented: “Uxbridge alternative? It will soon cost £12.50 plus parking if you have an older car!”
Spencer Powell said: “No banks in the village now. Only going to harm the high street even more.”
Gilly Heath said: “When they report record profits every quarter ask yourself what the bank does for you with your money.”
Maxine Cole commented: “Started my working life there in 1980 and ended it back there in 2019. I shall be sad to see it close. Best of luck ladies.”
Steve Stone said: “Sad as it is it’s the way of the world now and to be honest I haven’t been in a bank for many years.”
After the closure, the nearest cash machines will be at the Tesco Esso on Gravel Hill and BP Service Station on Oxford Road.
The nearest Post Offices are located on Chalfont St Peter High Street and Packhorse Road in Gerrards Cross.
