A HORSE rescue is crying out for support from the public to save a "poor pony" left alone in a field.

Thames Valley Police were called out to reports of a loose horse in Old Slane Lane, Iver, Buckinghamshire, yesterday afternoon (June 7).

Officers said they led the horse to a "safe location" but rescue organisation Saving Abandoned Fly-Grazing Equines (SAFE) saw their post on social media and said the horse needs urgent medical attention.

As such, the charity has set up a fundraising plea for the pony hoping to raise £1,000 to get it care, veterinary treatment and transport arrangement to another rescue.

SAFE wrote on social media said: "Police were called to a pony on a road in Iver the day before yesterday.

"Sadly all they could do was urge it into an area away from the road that was not secure and inform the RSPCA before they were called away to an emergency.

"The pony is obviously unwell as you can see in the photo and needs help.

"We cannot take any more horses into our care, but we can rescue the pony, get it vet treatment and if it can travel, arrange transport to another rescue who are willing to take it.

"This will cost in the region of £1,000."

The public has been asked to contribute money towards the care of the horse and if anyone is free to help find the pony.

Adding: "Anyone living in or around Iver, who is able to help locate this pony, please help search for him. We have posted on the Iver Community Facebook page for help to find him.

"The Police are supportive but can’t physically help.

"If you donate and we are not successful in finding him, we would put your donation to good use towards the horses already in our care. We are determined to help this poor soul before it’s too late."
