A stop and search order has been put in place by police following a stabbing in a Bucks estate today (5/6).
Thames Valley Police introduced the section 60 order in Milton Keynes which gives officers 24 hours of enhanced powers to search anyone in a specific area.
The order, which expires at 2:50pm tomorrow (6/6) followed a stabbing of man in his late teens at around 1:15pm on the Fishermead Estate.
The man suffered serious injuries after four masked men attacked him. He was then taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
The Section 60 order was put in place across the areas shown on the map below, including Eaglestone, Blethley and Shenley Church End.
Thames Valley Police have appealed for anyone who may have information about the incident to call 101 or make a report on the website, quoting reference number 871 of today.
Detective Chief Inspector James Horseman, based at Milton Keynes police station, said: “We have put this Section 60 order in place in a specific area of Milton Keynes following a serious stabbing and to prevent potential further violence.
“We are doing everything we can to investigate this incident and identify and locate those involved.
“The order will give our officers extra powers to carry out stop and search activity, and has been enacted for the safety of the public.
“I understand that an order of this nature could cause concern, but while it may sound alarming, enhancing our stop and search powers provides us with another tactic to quickly identify and disrupt those carrying weapons.
“If you are stopped by an officer, please do not be worried as this does not mean that you are in trouble.
“You will see more police officers in the area while the order is in place and we expect to carry out more stop and searches than usual.
“Officers who are out and about are there to reassure you as well as using their powers under Section 60 so please do stop and speak with them about any concerns that you have.”
