Buckinghamshire New University has unveiled plans for a new international hotel school that will be located at its Missenden Abbey site in Buckinghamshire.
The Missenden Abbey International Hotel and Hospitality School is set to commence operations in September 2023, with courses offered at bachelor's and master's levels in Hotel Management, International Hospitality Management, and Hospitality Leadership.
The curriculum for the courses has been co-designed with various leading industry organizations, including HJUK, Bespoke Hotels, HotelPartner, Red Carnation Hotels, and Leonardo Hotels, among others.
The courses will also benefit from industry-relevant classroom learning at the University’s High Wycombe Campus, on-site placements at the Abbey, and exciting paid internships within the sector.
The School will launch with two undergraduate degrees and an MSc in Hospitality Leadership, with plans to expand the course portfolio in 2024.
BNU V-Chancellor, Professor Nick Braisby, expressed his delight over the hospitality programme in a statement: “We are delighted to be opening Missenden Abbey International Hotel and Hospitality School this year and adding hospitality education to our repertoire.
"At BNU, we pride ourselves on producing employment-ready graduates, and MAIHHS will be no exception.
"With a forward-facing curriculum, a teaching team with extensive experience and industry connections, and the stunning and historic backdrop of Missenden Abbey, this is an exciting development for the University and for international hospitality tuition.”
Head of School for MAIHHS, Lisa Wyld, added that the institution is introducing unique courses to the UK market that are career-focused and offer practical learning.
The students will obtain practical business principles and well-rounded sector knowledge coupled with hands-on experience working in hospitality-related fields, Wyld stated.
The courses' industry-focused curriculum aims to produce graduates of the highest calibre that meet the current needs of the industry.
The newest hospitality school in the UK will allow students to hone their skills and learn from the best and prepare graduates that will meet the current industry's demands.
BNU's new course offering is a significant development for the university and for students seeking to pursue a career in the hospitality sector.
