TWO people have reportedly been arrested for allegedly being involved in the theft of a baby donkey who was stolen from a farm in Basingstoke.

Two-month-old foal Moon was taken from a field where she was with her mother, Astra, on May 15.

Members of staff at the farm confirmed that on Wednesday, May 31 they travelled to Buckinghamshire, liaised with Thames Valley Police and recovered little Moon.

Thames Vally Police took to Twitter to share the news that one adult and one juvenile have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary were contacted by the farm, which had been sent some information about Moon.

They immediately deployed officers to an address on White House Lane in High Wycombe.

At around 8.15pm the stolen donkey was located, recovered and returned to the delight of the owners.

TVP Rural Crime Taskforce posted: "Tonight officers from @HantsPolRural travelled up to the Beaconsfield area to complete an arrest attempt with the #TVPRural Crime Taskforce for suspects involved with the theft of the baby donkey, Moon 1 adult & 1 juvenile were arrested on suspicion of theft."

Elizabeth Miller, who owned Miller’s Ark, near Hook, appealed to the public for help finding Moon, and said she was “completely devastated and incredibly concerned” for the foal, who needed to be with her mother.

Hampshire Constabulary received “multiple calls from members of the public with possible sightings of the donkey”.
