A doctor has hit out at people sharing graphic videos of a ‘harrowing’ incident on Bournemouth beach online.

Dr Rob Rosa, from Bournemouth, was on the promenade when the incident in the water unfolded on Wednesday afternoon.

A 17-year-old boy from Southampton and a 12-year-old girl from Buckinghamshire died as a result.

Dr Rosa has slammed those filming and sharing videos of the CPR attempts on social media.

Speaking to the MailOnline, he said: “Those videoing the desperate CPR attempts should think long and hard at their actions. The tragic death of a child is not something anyone should voyeuristically observe.”

He added: “I have been a doctor for 18 years, including in A&E where I have been battle hardened, but I have never seen anything as bad as this in my career. It was utterly exceptional and harrowing.”

It comes as police have asked people not to share footage of the incident on Bournemouth beach online.

Assistant Chief Constable of Dorset Police, Rachel Farrell said: “We’re asking witnesses not to circulate footage on social media and instead to share it with detectives via the major incident public portal.”

Emergency services were called to the beach yesterday following reports of people "in trouble in the sea".

Eight other people were also pulled from the water during the rescue operation at around 4.30pm.

Police continue to investigate and have suggested that no one who was rescued from the water was hit by a boat or a jet ski.
