High Wycombe MP Steve Baker has paid tribute to the 12-year-old girl who died at Bournemouth beach yesterday.
A 12-year-old girl from High Wycombe and a boy, 17, from Southampton died after an incident off Bournemouth Pier yesterday (May 31).
A man is his 40s has been arrested by Dorset Police on suspicion of manslaughter.
Wycombe MP Steve Baker described the news as "a tragedy".
He said: "The death of every child is a tragedy, and I offer my condolences to everyone affected.
"I hope the family will soon have answers about what exactly happened in Bournemouth on Wednesday."
While the cause of the two deaths remains unclear, Dorset Police have urged people not to speculate about the incident on social media.
Buckinghamshire Council also released a statement earlier this afternoon, saying they were "saddened" by news of the incident.
Anita Cranmer, cabinet member for education and child's services, said: “Buckinghamshire Council is saddened to hear the tragic news of the death of a 12-year-old girl from High Wycombe yesterday on Bournemouth beach.
“Our thoughts go out to her family and friends. We will be offering support to them at this very difficult time.”
