Many hit TV shows have been spotted filming in Buckinghamshire recently, including one of the biggest series on Netflix.
The county is tipped to be the next Hollywood thanks to a variety of countryside locations within short distance from Pinewood Studios in Iver.
A new Wycombe Film Studio is being developed as part of the so-called ‘West London cluster’.
Often the mysterious and colourful signs on lampposts with letters like LOC (location) are a sure sign of filming happening nearby.
Here are the big TV productions seen in Buckinghamshire so far this year.
The Crown
An eagle eyed resident spotted a film set on a field in Chesham in January.
Curious resident Simon Thomas decided to approach the security guards, who told him they were secretly filming the popular Netflix show The Crown, he claimed.
“We love The Crown so will be watching the next series with added interest,” he said.
Wizard of Oz
The quiet village of Ivinghoe, Leighton Buzzard, was transformed into a fantasy town with toadstool houses for Universal Studios’ new spin-off of the classic story.
The new two-part Wicked movie will star the Grammy-winning pop star Ariana Grande as Glinda.
Grande shared a picture from the film set on her Instagram in April, praising the film crew and her role.
Mystery filming
Film crews were seen parking up at Stoke Court, a historic manor owned by Bayer, in Stoke Poges yesterday (May 25).
Who exactly is filming there remains a mystery as security guards stationed at the end of a private road leading to the manor were tight lipped about any details.
One of the gates had a sign with “Leyhill Prison” written on it, suggesting this could be part of the filming.
