A YELLOW weather warning has been issued for thunderstorms in Buckinghamshire.
The Met Office has put out a warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms which are likely to hit parts of the county from 11.30am today (May 11).
The warning lasts until 7pm today.
A weather forecaster has explained further details of what to expect today.
"Heavy showers will develop quite widely later this morning and afternoon, hail and lightning accompanying showers in some places," explained The Met Office.
"Some of these showers will be slow-moving and 10 to 20 mm of rain is likely to fall in less than an hour in some places whilst a few spots could see as much as 20 to 50 mm of rain in 2 or 3 hours."
What to expect?
There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.
Delays to train services are possible.
There could be damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes.
Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely leading to some damage to buildings or structures.
There could also be some short term loss of power and other services is likely.
