"A young person has lost his life needlessly" - those are the heartbreaking words from the head of Thames Valley Police's major crime unit investigating the murder of a 17-year-old boy.
The murder of the High Wycombe teenager has sent shockwaves throughout the community.
The stabbing happened on Easton Street on Sunday evening (May 7) when members of the public and theatregoers would have been visiting the town centre that day.
Four people have now been arrested as part of the murder investigation and the home office has issued the boy's cause of death.
The police force has issued a statement on the boy's tragic death.
Senior investigating officer Detective Superintendent Kevin Brown, head of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, said: “We are continuing to investigate this tragic incident thoroughly and have made further arrests.
“I would like to thank all those who have come forward so far with information relating to this incident and would encourage any others who may have information but are reluctant to come forward to please think again. A young person has lost his life needlessly.
“I would also like to again appeal for anyone who was in the area of Easton Street between 6.45pm and 7.30pm on Sunday evening (7/5) to come forward. If you saw anything unusual or have any dash cam or video footage from that location at that time, please get in touch on the numbers below.
“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends at this most difficult time.
“There will continue to be a large police presence in the town while our investigation continues. Members of the public should feel free to approach our officers if they have questions but please bear in mind that there will be some information they cannot share with you."
Police are still appealing for information and are asking members of the public to all 101 quoting reference number 43230199275.
