It was a gorgeous sunny day in Buckinghamshire yesterday, and residents made the most of it - hitting the streets (literally) to share food, drink and good cheer with their friends and family.

Jill, who came with three family members to a street party in Princes Risborough high street but ended up with a table of eight after chatting to neighbours, said it had been a "lovely" day.

Bucks Free Press:

"We had a very posh picnic - lots of salads and coronation chicken. If I'd remembered the dog's water, it would have been perfect!"

A large-scale celebration was also in full swing on the village green in Chalfont St Giles on Sunday afternoon.

The picnic celebration was packed, with live music, costumes, a fairground ride for children and even a couple of members of the royal family!

One person told the BFP: "It's been a lovely day. The sun came out and we met some royalty!

"Princess Eugenie said she had enjoyed the coronation and that she felt very tired but she was looking forward to the concert in Windsor tonight."

Crowds also gathered in the Memorial Gardens in Old Amersham yesterday to celebrate the coronation weekend - with bunting strung up around the area and live performances from The Polka Dots singing group.

Resident David King said the sunshine and entertainment had meant an enjoyable day for all.
