A FORMER Tesco employee has criticised the supermarket for not supporting him after he claims he was threatened with a metal pole and sworn at while on duty.
Dave King, from Aylesbury, worked as a full-time delivery driver at the Tesco Broadfields Aylesbury store in 2022 when the alleged incident happened.
Mr King raised a complaint about the incident but said it was never resolved and claimed he was 'forced to work alongside' the colleague who had been 'violent and angry' towards him.
A source at Tesco confirmed they carried out a full investigation and took 'appropriate action'.
Relaying the alleged incident, he said there was a row around 'missing crates' from his food delivery van.
He claimed the colleague called him an 'arrogant c***' before he was threatened with a metal poll.
Mr King alleged: "Tesco tried to stop me from raising a grievance against [the colleague] so I reported it to the police a couple of months later when it was obvious to me Tesco weren’t going to remove them from the business."
Thames Valley Police confirmed they received a report on December 21 regarding a man being threatened with a metal pole at Tesco Broadfields Retail Park on August 26, 2022.
A spokesman said: "An investigation was carried out however has since been filed pending further information coming to light."
Mr King revealed he had no intention of leaving Tesco but felt he was treated unfairly by the company.
Adding: "I was in the motor trading industry and the pressures of the industry caused me to have a breakdown so I was hospitalised and was under the care of the Aylesbury Mental Health Crisis team for intensive counselling!
"I left and joined Tesco, thinking it would be a stress-free environment, but couldn’t have been more wrong and felt leaving due to my health, safety and well-being.
"As far as I'm concerned she's a danger to herself, the public and her colleagues. I just want them to admit their mistake in them deciding not to suspend and dismiss a violent offender who only works part-time. Something is going wrong somewhere in that store and those responsible for protecting them and for failing me.”
The investigation was closed.
