A HIGH WYCOMBE secondary school has become the latest to be hit by a TikTok craze which has seen pupils stage protests and post the footage online.
Pupils at Sir William Ramsay have used the video-sharing platform to organise and film demonstrations against rules involving CCTV cameras being installed in student toilets.
It follows a series of school TikTok protests which swept the country in March and sparked by a range of perceived grievances, including rules over going to the toilet during class time.
In some cases across the country, police have had to be called, while at a school in Yorkshire windows were reportedly smashed and a tree was set on fire during a day of disruption.
The pupil who posted the video on TikTok said they acted in protest of the school putting cameras in the toilets.
The video shows a large group of teenagers walking through the school looking upset. They then walk through the corridors of the school in unison together.
Headteacher Paul Ramsey said: "In order to improve student safety, SWR School is introducing CCTV to cover the entrances and circulation areas of student toilets.
"In a survey, 60% of parents/carers voted in favour of this initiative.
"A small number of students protested against this policy in March during a morning break.
"The Deputy Headteacher met with the students concerned so that we could listen to their views and resolve any concerns. Other students also gave us their views.
"Students now fully understand how CCTV in these areas enhances student safety."
