Firefighters tackled a large fire which broke out at a commercial building in High Wycombe.

The blaze started on the ground floor of the building in Copyground Lane. When crews arrived on scene early on April 18 they found the fire was 'fully developed.

There was a large presence, with 10 fire appliances at the scene. People in the area are being asked to keep their doors and windows closed because of the smoke.

Firefighters say the whole building was damaged in the fire.

A road closure remains in place at this time.

A Bucks Fire and Rescue Spokesman said: "Thames Valley Police attended to help establish a scene cordon. The road is expected to be closed for some time so motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

"Smoke remains present in the area so local residents and businesses may wish to keep doors and windows closed.

"The incident response began to be scaled back shortly before 7am. Firefighters will remain on scene throughout the day turning over, damping down and monitoring for hot spots."

Appliances and crews attended from High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Amersham, Maidenhead (Control Unit), Slough, Aylesbury, Windsor, Tinkers Lane, Whitley Wood and an Operational Support Unit from Marlow.

Firefighters used six sets of breathing apparatus, two main jets, a thermal imaging camera, one hose reel jet, an aerial ladder, operational Support Unit used to support BA operations and a command unit.
